In a fast paced world, we as people just don’t have the time to stop, observe and appreciate the things around us. This is the most common scenario for people who are living or working in urban cities with technologies ruling over them.We often feel disconnected with the society and ourselves. Researches states that this problem of self isolation is due to the disconnection with the nature and lack of rich urban fabric in the city. To enhance the spatial experience where people can sit, rest and self reflect their thoughts is the main objective of this project.
In this project, we will find ourselves asking the following question – why the New Yorkers must find some peace and break their chaotic lifestyle to restore one’s balance to their own thoughts and emotions. This is designed to adapt to the native surrounding of New York. The concept will flow from a natural surrounding to a man – made structure where people get to experience various emotions all at once.
The mission of this design is to help people regain simple pleasures while at work. The sky gardens provide open spaces and an interactive space for both public and private users. The internal ramps within these zones create pocket parks. The gardens are designed in such a way to accommodate clinics, offices and other retail spaces. Continuous bands of sunshade louvres on the facade help reduce solar heat gain.
